Wherever possible, Helix will just put things back if you try to do something that can’t be done. Each time one of these startling events happens, a message can be accessed by choosing the Why? command under the Apple menu.
In the Template, if you try to place a Rectangle over another Rectangle, it will just slide back to where it came from. If you drag an icon into a Rectangle where it should not go, it will zoom back to the icon list.
If you try to drag icons out of their windows, or try to throw away an icon that is being used, it will zoom back.
If you change the type of a field icon that is being used in a calculation (and this change results in a “type-mismatch”), the field icon will pop out of the black holes of all Tiles where it is now “invalid.” If you change the field icon back to its original data type, the icons will automatically pop back into the tile holes. Note that if you place calculation tiles so that their holes overlap, and then change field types back and forth, icons might pop out of one hole, and back into a hole in another tile – a good reason why you should not overlap Calculation Tiles.
Icons can also pop out of black holes in Index icons if they are changed.
